Quarantine Zine

This zine was brainchild and creation of Katie Ravenscraig in Dundee, Scotland. I was merely 1 of the 45 contributing artists, poets, and photographers from all over the world who responded to Katie’s call in the early days of Covid-19 quarantine and lockdowns.

Akron Art Mail, Part I

2020

More on Part II of this project can be found here.

The Akron Art Museum and Akron-Summit County Public Library’s Akron Art Mail project aims to put art and writing into people’s hands and promote connection. The project has three main components: commissioned art cards offered free for patrons; a community exhibition of art cards; and an e-book catalog of the project. More info can be found here.

I was one of a group of artists and writers creating for this project. My inspiration for these postcards was something I think about often - but especially in difficult or challenging moments. These were created early in the Covid-19 quarantine.

Covid-19 Print Media Portfolio Exchange

2020

This portfolio exchange was organized by Susanna Harris in response to the Covid-19 pandemic - who asked ‘how do we as printmakers interpret the experiences our print, academic, professional, and home communities are facing?’. This exchange was specifically asking printmakers to think of creative ways of pulling an edition of prints from home without a press.

Given that I regularly work out of my home screen printing studio, I wanted to experiment with a different medium in the spirit of this exchange. I created a woodcut which was hand carved and printed at home with a wooden spoon. I hadn’t spoon printed since college (12 or so years) - this was a fun exercise.

APE MADE Fundraising

In leveraging my small biz to raise funds for local and national organizations doing the work in these difficult times, online sales-based donations have been made since the quarantine began with profits ranging from 25%-100% donated.

As of 11-26-21 the running total of cash donations since the pandemic began is $2,145.69 (+ $4,138.51 in in-kind goods and services donated) to 44 organizations. You can find all APE MADE giving history here.

Print Support: Ellolique

So happy to be able to partner with my friend ellolique on this project - she’s selling these tees and totes to raise funds for Black Lives Matter to assist with their bail out fund. She has also curated these designs by RelaxRelax and Michelle Berki to promote education and conversation about racial justice. The site also houses her blog.

Print Support: Yellowcake Shop

Hand printing Yellowcake Shop’s quarantine inspired shirt designs - and also customized mask printing - they donated a percentage from each shirt sale to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. A second round of shirts supported the Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition with donations.
